March 2010 Archives

I have been wanting to try this product for a few months now, but haven’t because it was winter and cold and I had absolutely no use for it. So, a week ago, when a heat wave rushed over PA, I knew it was time.

Urban Decay De-Slick Mattifying Powder comes in an adorable purple compact with a cute swirly skull design. The compact not only houses the powder, but a puff applicator and a mirror. This stuff isn’t some gross talc or baby powder, but rice powder, and can be used on bare skin or over foundation.

So I’m kind of in love.

NYX is the brand that got me into make-up. Back when I felt too guilty to spend tons of cash on cosmetics, I discovered NYX and was hooked instantly. After falling in love over and over again with prestige brand after prestige brand, I kind of lost interest in NYX. These new primers have snapped me back.

Always on the hunt for my new favorite mascara, I recently decided to test out Urban Decay’s Skyscraper Multi-Benefit mascara. I picked it up at Ulta for $22, which is more than I like to pay for mascara, and have been using it for a few weeks.

It’s been almost 2 months since I started using L’Oreal’s Lash Boosting Serum and mascara and about a month since my weeks 3 & 4 review. Since then, I have discontinued use of the mascara but am still using the serum religiously. This post will serve as a wrap-up of my updates, kind of like a go-to page with links to each week’s review, as well as my final say on what I think of the products’ effectiveness and whether they are worth the price.

Let’s start with links to previous reviews:

Biggest update: In my weeks 3 & 4 review, I stated that I was experiencing some significant eye pressure but was reluctant to discern whether it was the serum’s fault or not. I am happy to say I have not had any eye pressure since then, and I’m definitely chalking my experience up to stress.

Okay, maybe.

I truly never thought I’d be blogging about deodorant. I mean, what’s there to say, really? It either keeps you dry or doesn’t, right? I thought so. But Dove Ultimate Visibly Smooth antiperspirant/deodorant is different.

A few weeks ago I was at Wal-Mart with a friend. She was shopping for a deodorant and I was performing my usual routine of smelling the Axe Dark Temptation (mmm!) when this new product caught my eye. Not only was it new, it was a rollback price! (Woo!)

As I read the container, I learned that this stuff promises to minimize the appearance of underarm hair over time, thanks to its “pro-epil complex,” while also smoothing the skin as well. I was kind of like, “eh, I don’t know if I believe this, but what the hell.” So I snatched it up and tried it out the next day. It’s been a few weeks and I have to say I LOVE THIS STUFF. My underarms take significantly longer to get stubble-y and when they do, the hair is very light and baby-fine. Not to mention, the “wild rose” scent smells REALLY good and it keeps me dry and girly-smelling all day. :)

All around, this is a great product. You need to try this.

Go go get it!
