It’s been almost 2 months since I started using L’Oreal’s Lash Boosting Serum and mascara and about a month since my weeks 3 & 4 review. Since then, I have discontinued use of the mascara but am still using the serum religiously. This post will serve as a wrap-up of my updates, kind of like a go-to page with links to each week’s review, as well as my final say on what I think of the products’ effectiveness and whether they are worth the price.

Let’s start with links to previous reviews:

Biggest update: In my weeks 3 & 4 review, I stated that I was experiencing some significant eye pressure but was reluctant to discern whether it was the serum’s fault or not. I am happy to say I have not had any eye pressure since then, and I’m definitely chalking my experience up to stress.

Hey everyone! Well, I didn’t post my update last week because I didn’t see a whole lot of difference in my lashes. However, by the 4th week I was seeing some MAJOR results and oh man, I am officially a firm believer in L’Oreal’s lash boosting technology. This stuff is fantastic.

This week, I got asked why I take so much time to put false eyelashes on in the morning. I don’t wear false eyelashes! My co-workers were totally shocked to find out that my lashes were real and that I was using a drugstore product to make my lashes look like this. They’re fuller and they’re longer, and I’m loving it.

I have to be honest and say, though, that during week 3 I noticed some significant eye pressure and wondered if it had to do with the serum. I continued using the product anyway (which I wouldn’t recommend doing if you experience the same problem) and luckily the pressure went away after a day or two, so I chalked it up to the stress I’ve been under and moved on. I don’t have enough evidence to say whether the serum caused the pressure or not, but I didn’t feel right not including that in this review.

All in all, for around $25, this product is a definite steal. I’ll keep using the serum, but will probably switch back to my usual mascara and primer. I’m pretty convinced that the serum has to do with the fact that I have more lashes and the fact that they’re longer, but the primer is really what plumps up the lashes. The primer didn’t really do much more than MAC’s Prep ‘n Prime does (this product just happens to be less expensive.) Either way, you HAVE to at least give the serum a try, but I say go all out and give the mascara and primer a try, too.

[Onward!]

Many apologies for not posting this sooner! This was meant to be posted on Tuesday (and I assure you that the photos shown below were taken then) but I had some personal difficulties to deal with so, I’m a little late on this. Do forgive me?

I started noticing some hardcore results last Thursday, just two days after my first update. I looked in my rearview mirror and it looked like I was wearing some false fringe. I’ve also been getting crazy compliments on my lashes and I feel like my eyes look wider.

Now here’s where I get critical. The primer itself is what helps to make the lashes look fuller. It does the same thing MAC’s Prep ‘n Prime lash does (or any lash primer, really.) The ads L’Oreal has been running in magazines such as Cosmopolitan state that in four weeks 71% of women report having more lashes and 75% report fuller lashes. I have not seen more lashes or fuller lashes. Like I said, the primer itself is what is helping my lashes to appear fuller when they have mascara on them. What I have seen though is longer lashes.

At this point I’m still optimistic and hoping that I, too, will notice more, fuller lashes with this product. Follow the jump for this week’s photos!

I have the palest, sparsest eyelashes on the planet.

So of course I’m always looking for the newest tip or trick on how to make my lashes darker and fuller. However, some lash treatments are just too expensive and this girl’s got student loans. Not only that, but I am so weary of a certain product’s side effects (Eyelid skin darkening and brown iris pigmentation? No thanks.) So when L’Oreal came out with its Lash Boosting Serum, I was intrigued. Then I heard about their new Double Extend mascara with Lash Boosting Serum and the claim that using these together could “transform [my] natural lashes, and see more lashes in just 4 weeks!” I knew I had to put it to the test.

L’Oreal sells the Double Extend mascara and Lash Boosting Serum together in a value pack or separately. In this four week test, I will be using the serum at night on bare lashes and along the lashline, and the mascara during the day.
